President Gives His Nod To Rename HRD Ministry

The Honorable President Ram Nath Kovind gave his nod to officially change the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD)'s name to the Ministry of Education.
The policy to change the name of the MHRD was one of the key recommendations, made by the National Education Policy (NEP) in its new draft. The Union Cabinet meeting that was chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the last month cleared the draft.
According to the information provided by the gazette notification which was issued on the night of Monday stated that President Ram Nath Kovind agreed to change the name of HRD Ministry.
The gazette notification said that the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) will be substituting the new Ministry of Education.
Changing the names of the Ministries is not a new thing. Back then when late Rajiv Gandhi was serving as PM, the Ministry of Education's name was changed to Human Resource Development(HRD) in the year 1985.
