The Hero who met Charles Sobhraj in Jail!
By: Tupaki Desk | 27 Oct 2015 4:08 AM GMTBollywood actor Randeep Hooda who is playing the lead in 'Main Aur Charles', which is the biopic of Charles Sobhraj, met the serial killer in Kathmandu jail along with the Film's Director Prawaal Raman recently.
Randeep Hooda met Charles Sobhraj during the Mulaqat time and the conversation lasted for about 10 minutes. Interestingly, Randeep dressed up like himself not like the character he plays in the films. Hence, Charles Sobhraj couldn't recognise him initially and hence he had to introduce himself to the 72-Year-Old Criminal. Finally, Charles gave thumbs up to Randeep Hooda agreeing that he is perfect to him onscreen.
Interestingly, Charles Sobhraj liked the trailer of 'Main Aur Charles' when he watched it on the TV in prison and even put a poster of the film on the wall of his jail room. When Randeep appealed for his signature on few posters, Charles signed them and also offered his best wishes to the film.
Charles Sobhraj was impressed with the detailing and perfect portrayal of himself on-screen. He even inquired with Randeep how was he able to get dialogue delivery and mannerisms right. Randeep told him that he got it from an old footage available. Charles requested Randeep Hooda and Director to arrange screening of the movie for 3,000 inmates after the release if possible. And the makers promised they would try their best to do it!
'Main Aur Charles' is based on Charles Sobhraj's affairs with women, murders and the sensational Tihar jail break in 1986.
Charles Sobhraj believes he might be released from jail within 3 months. The next hearing of the court case is on November 3rd.
