Gangrape is Impractical

Former CM and Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh stirred a controversy by saying four men raping a girl isn't practically possible.

Stating that a negative campaign has been run against Samajwadi Government in Uttar Pradesh, Mulayam Singh said rape cases were blown out of proporting and he even cited Badaun rape case as an example highlighting CBI probe proved rape wasn't committed at all. "They were cold-blood murders committed by victim's cousins for the sake of property," he said.

Pointing out that there were instances of a victim naming four people due to person grudge when only one person raped her, Mulayam told: "There are cases where a victim alleges four brothers had raped her. It isn't practical. Innocents shouldn't be harassed".

Women Organisations and Political Parties attacked Mulayam Singh for projecting gangrape as something 'impractical'. Few women activists even advised the SP Chief to have a honest conversation with the female members of his family to understand the plight of women in UP.
