The off-spinner now holds the record of the bowler to take the wickets of most number of left-hand batsmen in the test format with 192 dismissals. He surpassed Muralitharan, who has 191 dismissals.
Ravichandran Ashwin achieved the milestone by castling, Josh Hazelwood, who was batting at 10 off 20 balls. With Hazelwood's dismissal, the Australian innings came to an end, giving a target of 70 for India.
The Indian off-spinner has 375 dismissals under his name in the longest format of the game. Ashwin dismissed 375 wickets in 73 Tests at an average of 25.22. He is also the third-highest wicket-taking Indian spinner after Anil Kumble (619) and Harbhajan Singh (417).
