No matter what critics say, AP CM Chandrababu Naidu kept pledging Polavaram Project will be completed by 2019. Unfortunately, The works of the project kept missing the deadlines repeatedly though Chief Minister has been conducting the review meeting on every Monday.

AP Government contemplated on ending the contract with Transstroy, the firm owned by MP Rayapati's Family, citing the delay in works. However, Centre disapproved the proposal saying it will lead to cost escalation by 35 percent.

TDP Narsaraopet MP Rayapati Sambasiva Rao told AP Government offered sub-contracts to other firms to complete polavaram by 2019. 'Government delayed the land acquisition and hence Transstroy received lands only in June 2016. We procured all the machinery. In one-and-a-half year, We completed this much work and hopeful of wrapping up the remaining work within 2 years. CM fears the project might get delayed further. So, Some part of the work have been offered to couple of other companies in the form of Sub-Contracts. We conveyed to CM that Transstroy willn't object any such proposal,' he said.

AP Government is planning to call tenders for Polavaram works worth Rs 1,000 crore in November 1st Week. The firm which is behind Pattiseema Project is likely to be assigned this sub-contract.
