RBI gives Rs 100 note a makeover
By: Tupaki Desk | 26 Jun 2015 12:31 PM GMTReserve Bank of India has come up with a new feature for 100 rs currency notes to enhance the security. RBI on Thursday announced that they have given a new numbering pattern to the hundred rupees notes in order to keep check for fake currency.
As per the apex bank's notification, RBI has issued Rs100 denomination banknotes in Mahatama Gandhi series-2005 with a new numbering pattern and the size of the numerals in both number panels will increase from left to right. But the size of first three alphanumericals will remain same.
‘’The numerals in both the number panels of these banknotes will be in ascending size from left to right, while the first three alphanumeric characters (prefix) will remain constant in size’’ RBI said in a release. Except that everything will remain same .
RBi said that with new security feature the general public can easily distinguish a fake note from a genuine one. Meanwhile RBI has extended the deadline to exchange pre-2005 currency notes to December 31. Last year in December, RBI had extended the deadline to June 30.
