Red Fades From The Left Party Flags In Coal Belt
X
Once upon a time, the whole coal belt in North Telangana was synonymous with the Left parties. They were there everywhere. They were powerful in the trade unions and had set the agenda in the coal belt. Their candidates used to win the assembly elections. In fact, Gunda Mallesh, the CPI leader, was an MLA for four times. This in itself is a testimony to the strength and power of the Leftists.

But today, the Left parties are a mere shadow of their former self. They are unable to win the elections. They have been defeated in the union elections. All those proud red flags have lost their colour and the slogans lost their sheen. Today, the Left parties are unable to draw the crowds and win the elections.

Time was when they were quite powerful in Bellampalli, Mandamarri, Srirampur and Ramakrishnapuram. Leaders like Gunda Mallesh, Gummadi Narsaiah, Midiam Babu Rao and Rajaiah are completely gone. Their charisma has faded. There is no leader worth the salt who can draw the people towards the Leftist leaders or their ideology.

The Communists are said to be mulling very seriously as to how to revive the party and restore its past glory. They are said to be holding key strategy meets to revive the Red parties. But, the parties seem to have lost the zeal to win. The people seem to have lost interest in the party.
