Registrar of Trademarks declares Kerala winner in the battle over KSRTC Acronym
By: Tupaki Desk | 3 Jun 2021 11:08 AM GMTGod's Own Country, Kerala and Karnataka have been locking horns with each other over the 'KSRTC' acronym for the transport corporation over the past seven years. Both states gave the maximum effort to get the acronym.
Keeping an end to long waiting, the Controller General of Patents Design and Trade Marks under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry declared Kerala as the winner in the fight on Wednesday.
Kerala Transport Minister Antony Raju reacted to the verdict and expressed his happiness over this. The Minister said the acronym is associated with the lives of the people and congratulated the officials who fought the fight.
The issues over the acronym arose between the two Transport Corporations of Kerala and Karnataka after Karnataka transportation had written to Kerala to not use KSRTC, back in 2014.
Since then, the case has been going on. Now Kerala was declared winner in this case by the Registrar of Trademarks. This makes Karnataka ineligible to use KSRTC on its buses.
