India's 66th Republic Day parade on Monday has made everyone witness five developments which never happened before. What were they? Check it out...
1) Barack Obama is the First US President to be the chief guest at Republic Day parade.
2) Its unlike Obama's other foreign tours. Why because US President spent over 2 hours on an outdoor viewing platform inspite of Secret Security Service concerns! Obama even approved display of rocket launchers and military tankers during the parade.
3) Usually, The chief guest of Republic Day arrives to the venue along with the President. Against the traditiion, Obama and Michelle reached the venue in his presidential armoured limousine 'The Beast'.
4) Women's Contingent: This is for the first time all the three services (Indian Army, Indian Air Force, Indian Navy) fielded all-women contingents at the parade.
5) Display of long-range maritime surveillance, anti-submarine P-8I aircraft and long-range advanced MiG-29K fighter plane.
