Researches say Anti-Malaria Drug Treating COVID-19 Might Increase Heart Problems

Following the rise of the cases of the new proposal arose that the anti-malaria drug hydroxychloroquine and the antibiotic azithromycin should be used to treat the COVID-19 patients.

The researchers from Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) and Indiana University recommend that clinicians treating COVID-19 patients with the malaria-antibiotic drug combination should consider monitoring those patients for ventricular arrhythmia.
"While there is yet very little data regarding hydroxychloroquine and azithromycin's effectiveness as a treatment for COVID-19, some clinicians are considering combining them during this global pandemic," a study in American College of Cardiology's Cardiology Magazine said.
A doctor at a private hospital in Assam's Guwahati died of a heart attack on Saturday, after he allegedly consumed anti-malarial drug hydroxychloroquine, which is being used for the treatment of coronavirus patients.
The doctor has sent a message to a fellow doctor and colleague that he is feeling uneasy after taking the anti-malaria drug. Soon after he breathes his last breath.
