Reservation In Indian Cricket Team: New Controversy!
Should Reservations be given based on the caste or financial background of the beneficiaries is the discussion that has been going on in the country of late. The discussion started after the union government proposed a 5 percent quota for EWS, for the poor people in upper castes.

Now a new debate has started on reservations in cricket after an actor started a new controversy saying that there is a good representation of upper castes in the team and reservations should be given for the underprivileged castes.

Giving the example of the South African team which is giving a chance to blacks, Kannada actor Chetan Ahimsa made sensational comments. At an event that was held on the occasion of the death anniversary of Babasaheb Ambedkar, the actor said the cricket team is made up of 70 percent of upper castes.

Alleging that the Indian team is not having a balance the actor said talented players from the marginalised castes are not able to find a place in the team due to their skin colors. Giving this as an example he wanted reservations.

The actor went on to say that the talented players from the SC and ST communities are unable to get chances in the team and he will even write to the serving chief of the Board of Control for Cricket in India(BCCI) Roger Binny and Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi.

"In India, even talented lower caste players, like SCs and STs, are not able to make it to the national team. I will write to cricketing legend and BCCI chief Roger Binny, who is from Karnataka, and to PM Narendra Modi too," Chetan Ahimsa said.

Sports is the only area where there is no reservation and anyone can enter the field if they have the talent and skills. The idea of having a reservation is to uplift the communities which are marginalized.

Take any sport, for example, the players who get to represent the nation come from a humble background and they get famous and rich after playing the sport. From Sachin Tendulkar to Mahendra Singh Dhoni to Virat Kohli everyone had a humble background.
