Resolution Objecting Uranium Mining Passed
By: Tupaki Desk | 16 Sep 2019 9:24 AM GMTIT Minister KT Rama Rao on Monday introduced a resolution appealing Centre to withdraw the proposal of carrying out Uranium Mining in Nallamala Forest. Telangana Assembly approved this resolution against Uranium Mining unanimously.
After the #SaveNallamala Campaign began gaining popularity, Minister KTR informed public through his Twitter handle that he would speak to Telangana CM KCR about the concerns expressed by people from different walks of life over the drawbacks of Uranium Mining. Within short duration, The IT Minister made an announcement in Legislative Council disapproving Uranium Mining. Even Telangana CM declared in the House that Uranium Mining won't be permitted in Nallamala Forest. He foresees threat to Telangana and polluting of Krishna river with Uranium Mining.
KCR informed Assembly about the permission granted by then Congress Government in United AP for carrying out Uranium Mining. He cautioned that a movement will be launched if Centre doesn't take the concerns expressed by the Telangana Government into consideration.
