With the decision of AP govt many government employees in Telangana are keen that the government raise their retirement age on the lines of Andhra Pradesh.Earlier some of Telangana Secretariat Employees called on Chief Minister K Chandrasekhara Rao and appealed to him to raise the retirement age to 60 years. They pointed out to the Chief Minister that his AP counterpart has increased the retirement age of the employees from 58 to 60 years.

But Telangana government turned down their request and Telangana financial minister made official announcement on this in Assembly. The TRS government has made it clear that it would not raise retirement age of its employees under any circumstances as they felt it will harm the unemployed youth in the state.Speaking in the Assembly during question hour on Thursday, Finance Minister Etela Rajender said that many young people pinned hope son getting jobs after Telangana formation

“The youth will be meted out injustice if the retirement age is increased. 10,000 employees retire every year and there will be no vacancies if the retirement age is increased to 60 years. The TRS government is keen on increasing employment opportunities for the youth. Our students were eagerly waiting for jobs after creation of the Telangana State and therefore the government has decided not to increase retirement age of 58 years. ‘’Said Etela
