The brutal death happened shortly after the state government decided to withdraw the security granted to a few celebrities who have threats.
Popular Punjabi singer Sidhu Moose Wala was shot dead when he was traveling in a car along with two others. The issue caught the attention of the entire nation and condolence messages are pouring in for the famous singer and rapper Moose Wala.
The much-talked-about murder case has brought a big discussion on the growing gun culture in the state. Just like the United States, Punjab is seeing a growth in gun culture and the private video songs are reportedly glorifying the gun culture.
If we look at the Punjabi songs, the song creators use luxury vehicles and hold guns. Many feel that the video songs are the main reason behind the gangs getting increased in the state. These gangs are going on a rampage in the state and killing their opponents. The recent killing of the singer is also suspected to be an act of the gangster group.
Maverick filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma reacted to the murder and said that, after the murder of Gulshan Kumar, no such brutal death happened to expect for Sidhu MosseWala, He wondered what will be the situation of common people.
"Not since the brazen #GulshanKumar's broad daylight murder in 1997 ,a murder as brutal as that of #SidhuMosseWala happened ..If this can happen to a celebrity with crores of followers god also can't save the common people," Ram Gopal Varma tweeted.
After the killing incident was reported, many fears and concerns were raised about the safety of people in the state. Many asked what would be the situation of common people when a popular singer was shot dead. The brutal murder had increased the political heat in Punjab at once.
The opposition parties are alleging that the ruling Aam Aadmi Party in Punjab might have called off the security with vested interests. The High Court which heard a petition on the issue sought an explanation from the government on why the security was called off.'
