The Andhra Pradesh High Court ruled to reopen a 5 year old case that shook the Telugu states. Rishiteshwari, a Nagarjuna University alumnae pursuing her architecture committed suicide in her hostel room.

Now the High Court ruled out to reopen the case and a comprehensive investigation should be conducted under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act as the victim was a minor when the incident took place.

The new development came after Ch Manavendranath Reddy, High Court Judge asked the special court that oversees POCSO cases to finish the trail within six months based on the charge sheet filed by the cops.

The Hugh Court said that the victim was a minor when the incident happened where she was reportedly harassed by her seniors and professors and said that the POCSO special court did not function properly.

Looking back at the case, Rishiteshwari, who hails from Warangal committed suicide in her hostel room on the 14th of July in the year 2015. At that time, some media reports stated that the college principal was also linked with the sad incident.

Though the cops registered the case under the POCSO Act, the special court quashed the case and said that the victim was major and the case cannot be booked under the act.

However, the victim's father challenged the special court's judgment and moved the High Court in 2017 with all the substantial pieces of evidence to prove that the victim was minor when the incident happened.
