Round One in TPCC goes to Revanth Reddy
By: Tupaki Desk | 23 March 2022 6:05 AM GMTHas Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee chief Revanth Reddy gained an upper hand over the dissidents in the party? Why did many of those who staunchly oppose Revanth Reddy skip the meeting called by senior leader V Hanumanth Rao? Why only six leaders attended? All these indicate that Revanth is now firmly in the cockpit and is resolutely placed in the party echelons.
A meeting of the Congress dissidents was called on last Sunday in Hotel Ashoka. The meeting was held under the banner of Congress loyalists forum and the invitations were sent in the name of VH. All those who were keeping away from the Gandhi Bhavan after Revanth Reddy took over and all those inactive for the past few months were invited to the meeting.
The organisers expected the Komatireddys, Madhu Yashki Goud, MLA Sridhar Babu, Podem Veeraiah, Uttam Kumar Reddy, Jana Reddy, Geetha Reddy, Maheswar Reddy and others to attend the meet and raise their voice against Revanth Reddy's working style. However, only six leaders managed to attend at the last count. They are: Marri Sasidhar Reddy, MLA Jagga Reddy, Party's disciplinary committee member Kamalakar, Shyam Mohan and senior leader Gauri Shankar.
Many leaders, who promised to attend, backed out at the last minute. Of these six leaders, Revanth has already taken action against Jagga Reddy and issued a showcause notice to VH. These leaders are not finding any support from the high command too. All these point out that Revanth Reddy has got an upper hand in the party organisation. The failure of this meeting may well make others cagey when it comes to opposing Revanth Reddy.
Several leaders like Geetha Reddy, Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka and others are unhappy with Revanth's style of functioning but are afraid to come out into the open. The fiasco of the Hotel Ashoka meeting may further demotivate such leaders, say sources.
