Why was Dhoni sacked as RPS Skipper?
By: Tupaki Desk | 22 Feb 2017 1:12 PM GMTMahendra Singh Dhoni was ousted as the skipper of Rising Pune Supergiants (RPS) ahead of IPL 10th Edition starting from April 5th. What could be the reason behind this tough call?
RPS Owner and Industrialist Sanjiv Goenka: 'During the last season, Dhoni hasn't attended Team Meetings and he won't be available on phone. We had to contact him only through Agent Arun Pandey. Dhoni would neither do net practice nor implement the decision taken during Team Meetings. Even when it comes to Playing XI, He wouldn't take Team Management into confidence. When we suggested him to include Aussie spinner Adam Zampa in Playing XI, We were surprised to hear from him that he hasn't seen his bowling so far'.
'When contacted he to inform Steve Smith will be replacing him as Skipper, Dhoni said its absolutely fine and assured cooperation in whichever way possible'.
'We had the luxury of choosing one among the two world-class captains Steve Smith and Faf du Plessis. Finally, Steve Smith has been picked up because of the way he led the Australian team. He accept the elevation happily'.
