With ban on old currency notes with high denomination, People were using different ways to settle bills and meet day-to-day expenses. What came as a surprise is the settlement of Hospital Bill amounting Rs 40,000 in the form of coins.

Sukanta Chhaule was admitted in BP Poddar Hospital and Research Centre in Kolkata for the cure of Dengue. On November 9th, Hospital Management informed his family members to make arrangements for discharge the very next day. There was a panic situation at Sukanta Chhaule's house due to ban Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes. The Hospital even refused to accept cheque.

Then, The Family forwarded WhatsApp message to friends and well-wishers seeking cash in low denominations. By 3 am, They were able to collect Rs 40,000. When the coins were bought in a large jute bag on Thursday morning, Hospital Management refused to accept them initially but finally altered their decision when the family threatened to file an FIR. About 6 staff members in Hospital began counting the coins and it took them 3 hours to complete the process. Sukanta Chhaule was discharged from hospital at 3 PM.
