Vasant Raiji, the world's oldest first class cricketer who recently celebrated his 100th birthday passed away. He breathed his last breath at his residence in Mumbai who is survived by his wife and two daughters.

His son in law confirmed the news of the sad demise of the former cricketer who lost his life due to age related issues. He said that he passed away at 2:20 AM in his sleep at his residence.

On the occasion of his 100th birthday famous personalities from Cricketing world like Sachin Tendulkar, Steve Waugh, and Sunil Gavaskar, and others have visited him and wished him.

Sachin Tendulkar who got to know about the sad news took to Twitter to send condolences to his family and friends.

"I met Shri Vasant Raiji earlier this year to celebrate his 100th birthday. His warmth and passion for playing and watching Cricket was endearing. His passing away saddens my heart. My condolences to his family & friends," Tendulkar's Tweet read.

Vasant Raiji was born in 1920 and in the 1940s played nine first class matches and in his career that lasted for a decade, he scored 277 runs. Later, he left the game and settled as a Chartered accountant.
