Samples of 56 elephants from Tamil Nadu sent for Covid tests!

Compared to the first wave, the second wave of covid is raging like a wildfire in India. Besides humans, canines, pets, and animals at the Zoo facility are also developing the symptoms of the virus.
As a precautionary measure, the authorities at the Mudumalai Tiger Reserve (MTR) have sent samples of 56 elephants for Covid testing. The elephants belong to the elephant camps in Kozhikamuthi and Theppakadu.
The samples were sent for testing after the Tamil Nadu Forest Minister ordered the concerned officials to do so. The samples were sent to the Indian Veterinary Research Institute in Uttar Pradesh's Izatnagar.
The Forest Minister said the samples were sent for Covid detection tests after lions at the Vandalur zoo came in contact with the deadly virus.
Neela, a nine-year-old lioness at the zoo died last week, while nine lions at the Zoo had tested positive for the virus. There are eleven lions at the Vandalur Zoo in total.
