It's Official: Sania Mirza bags Rajiv Khel Ratna!

Union Sports Ministry has awarded Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna award to Sania Mirza for her contribution to the country through the sport she plays.
Surely, Sania Mirza will have mixed feelings just because she was fined for traffic violation in Hyderabad on the same day she received the great news of being chosen for a coveted award.
Few days ago, Sports minister Sarbananda Sonowal had recommended the Khel Ratna, the highest honor given for achievement in sports, for Sania Mizra. The proposal was approved by Union Ministry Today.
Sania Mirza won her first ever Women's Doubles Grand Slam with her Swiss partner Martina Hingis in June this year. She also achieved the World No.1 ranking with her consistent performance in the past 2 years.
