Sania Mirza receives Notice for Tax Evasion

Service Tax Department served notice to Indian Tennis Star Sania Mirza for alleged evasion of the tax. The notice was issued by Hyderabad's Service Tax Officer Suresh Kumar working at Service Tax Hyderabad-11 Commissionerate in Red Hills on February 6th. Sania Mirza was asked to appear before the Service Tax Department in person or send her agent on February 16th.
As per the Service Tax Department, Sania Mirza hasn't declared her total earnings up to the satisfaction. She was supposed to pay additional Rs 20 lakhs of Service Tax. Hence, The notice was served at her residence in Jubilee Hills.
It was mentioned in the notice that Sania Mirza is liable to be punished under relevant Sections of IPC in case if she failed to comply with the summons. There can't be more embarrassing than this for someone who has been the brand ambassador of the Telangana State.
