How could anyone punish ME?: Sasikala asks SC
By: Tupaki Desk | 4 May 2017 6:26 AM GMTVK Sasikala Natarajan, her Sister-in-Law Ilavarasi and Nephew Sudhakaran moved Supreme Court seeking review of the verdict in the Rs 66.65 crore disproportionate assets case.
Mentioning that they aren't Government Servants, The Three Convicts claimed Prevention of Corruption Act isn't applicable to them. They argued that charged leveled against them willn't survive independently after the demise of A1 Accused Jayalalithaa. They even informed the Apex Court about the payment of Income Taxes independently during that period.
However, The Bench maintained the declaration of property in the IT Returns doesn't mean that the same has been acquired through legal source of income.
On February 14th this year, Supreme Court sentenced Sasikala Natarajan, Ilavarasi and Sudhakaran for four years in prison. They were lodged in Parappana Agrahara Prison in Bangalore since then.
