As a major boost up to India's efforts to bring Fugitive Jeweler Nirav Modi, who is facing allegations of money laundering worth Rs 14,000-crore back to India, a UK judge ruled out in favour of India's demand.

District Judge Samuel Goozee said he is satisfied with the arguments of India to extradite Nirav Modi. The extradition is in compliance with Human Rights, the Judge said.

The Judge said the case was strong and the jeweler would face trial in India. Nirav Modi has links with bank officials and other fraudsters. He got clearance letters easily with this, he said.

The Justice noted that Nirav Modi has written to PNB bank that he owes money to the bank and promise to pay back the loan amount. Nirav Modi and his partners were operating fraudulently.

Referring to the CBI investigation, the Judge said the investigation is underway in India. The Prima facie reveals he is accused of money laundering worth multi-crore.

Counsel who appeared for Nirav Modi told the Court that the mental health of his client was worsened with the Covid-19. Nirav Modi has reportedly stressed suicidal thoughts if he was placed in Indian prisons.

The verdict of the Judge will be forwarded to UK Home Secretary Priti Patel. Once the Home Secretary signs on the papers, the process of extradition would be made easy.

The fugitive jeweler was arrested on an extradition warrant back in 2019. Since then, he has been trying to get bail from the Court. But the courts at various levels in the UK have been turning down the petitions.
