The symbol of love Taj Mahal grabbed the headlines with unexpected news. One way, the court has given an order regarding the ownership of Taj and the other way a pillar collapsed inside the Taj compound. The Supreme Court has asked Uttar Pradesh Sunni Waqf Board to submit documents signed by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan, as the Waqf Board has been claiming that they are the rightful owners of Taj Mahal. The Supreme Court gave a week time to submit the documents which show the ownership of Waqf Board. It is known that Shah Jahan died in Agra Fort when he was under house arrest. It happened nearly 18 years after he constructed Taj Mahal in memory of his wife Mumtaj Mahal.

Waqf Board claimed the ownership of Taj Mahal in July, 2015.. then Archeological Survey of India (ASI) approached the Supreme Court against them. After listening to the arguments of both parties, chief justice Mishra commented that "Does anyone believe that Taj Mahal belongs to Waqf Board? How did Shah Jahan sign the waqfnama? When did he hand over to you?"

Advocate ADN Rao argued on behalf of ASI that "There is no such thing as waqfnama in the Mughal period." The bench has said that Shah Jahan was held captive by his son Aurangajeb. Shah Jahan died while he was under house arrest. How can he sign waqfnama then?

Meanwhile, heavy rains are lashing out in North India. UP witnessed incessant rain on Wednesday. Due to the heavy downpour, a pillar inside the Taj Mahal compound collapsed. The officials revealed that the pillar at the entry gate collapsed due to the rain. No one got injured in the pillar collapse incident. In another incident, a house collapsed in a village in Mathura district which was 50 kms away from Agra. Three children lost their lives in the incident. Nandgaon, Vrundavan, Kosi Kalan areas in Mathura are witnessing heavy rains.
