Disha Case: SC Conceded Six Months More Time To Complete The Probe

The much talked about brutal gang-rape of murder incident of veterinarian which is dubbed as Disha found itself in news once again with the Supreme Court granting a period of six months inquire about the incident and submit a detailed report.

The cases reached the apex court with the committee that was constituted to inquire into the case moving the Supreme Court to seek an additional period of six months to produce the final report before the court.

The Constitutional bench headed by Chief Justice of India Sharad Arvind Bobde heard the petition and granted six more months to submit a report of the encounter.

The commission which is constituted on the 12th of December in 2019 to inquire into the incident is led by ex-Justice of Supreme Court V S.Sirpurkar. The commission also comprises former Bombay High Court judge Rekha Sondur Baldota and ex-CBI director D R Karthikeyan

It has been reported that the commission told the Supreme Court that due to the ongoing pandemic, they counsel not submit the report.

Looking at the timeline of the case, in November 2019, four men -Mohammed Arif, Chintakunta Chennakeshavulu, Jolu Shiva, and Jollu Naveen brutally gang-raped and killed a 26-year-old veterinary doctor in Shamsabad.

Her name was changed to Disha to save her personal details. The incident became a national issue. The suspected were killed in an encounter when they tried to flee from the scene while recreating the scene.
