By: Tupaki Desk | 11 Nov 2020 1:14 PM GMTRepublic TV Editor-in-chief Arnab Goswami got bail after one week in abetment to suicide case, after the Supreme Court, which heard his plea today granted him bail along with co-accused.
A vacation bench of Judges which heard Arnab's plea issued interim bail on a bond of Rs 50,000 each. While granting bail, the top court allegedly made sensational comments on High Courts.
The bench was not happy with High Courts and said in the matters of personal liberty, the High Courts are not doing enough. "Don't watch the channel of you don't like… Left to myself I will not watch… If state govt's target individuals in this manner, let's send out a message that SC is there," Justice DY Chandrachud maintained.
The case reached the top court after Counsel Nirnimesh Dubey, who represents Arnab Goswami knocked on the doors of the court to challenge the Bombay High Court's ruling to refuse to grant bail to Arnab and two other accused.
Arnab Goswami and two other accused, Feroze Shaikh and Nitish Sarda were arrested in connection with an abetment to suicide case that traces back to 2018, where an interior designer and his mother ended their lives after Arnab's companies didn't pay their dues.
