No more release of Funds: SC tells BCCI
By: Tupaki Desk | 7 Oct 2016 11:39 AM GMTThe Supreme Court barred BCCI from releasing funds to State Associations on Friday as long as it files an affidavit promising implementation of reforms suggested by the panel appointed by it. In addition, It ordered State Associations not to receive funds from BCCI until a resolution to implement Lodha Panel reforms was passed.
Apex Court enquired BCCI President Anurag Thakur whether he has informed ICC that failing to implement Lodha Committee reforms will lead to the disqualification of the Indian Cricket Board. In reply, Anurag Thakur explained that BCCI isn't against reforms but certain technical and legal issues need to be addressed. He sought till till October 17th to bring those issues to the notice of Supreme Court. As a result, SC postponed its next hearing to Oct 17th.
Earlier, Supreme Court found fault with BCCI for transfer of Rs 400 crore overnight to State Associations and appointment of new Selectors Panel. Both these decision were against the recommendations of Justice Lodha Committee.
