The other day, Supreme Court has abolished the Adultery Law punishing the Man having an extra-marital affair with a Woman without the consent of her Husband. There were mixed reaction on the verdict scrapping 158-Year-Old Section 497 of the IPC.

Former Congress MP Renuka Chowdhury opined Supreme Court verdict is like encouraging Married People to have extra-marital affairs. 'It's anti-Women. What about the sanctity of marriage?,' she questioned.

Renuka Chowdhury asked whether Woman who was abandoned by her Husband could file a case anymore. She went on to say that the verdict is more like criminalizing the Triple Talaq Law. 'Men will just abandon Women without saying Triple Talaq. Decriminalising Adultery if fine but the court should clarify certain things,' she stressed.

Even Delhi Women Commission Chairperson Swathi Maliwal questioned how could Women get benefitted if extra-marital affair isn't a crime.
