GHMC Registered 46.88 Poll Percentage: Telangana SEC
By: Tupaki Desk | 2 Dec 2020 12:40 PM GMTThe local body elections held for the divisions that fall under the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation(GHMC) region raised many doubts on the actual polling percentage registered in the local body polls.
Clearing all the airs on the vote percentage recorded in the local body elections, the Telangana State Election Commission (SEC) announced the vote percent registered in the elections.
According to the data released by the SEC, 46.68 percent of voting was reported in the elections. This year the polling percentage has gone up by 1.41 percent compared to the previous elections.
Despite the factors like the majority of voters moving to Andhra Pradesh before the lockdown and employees in the IT Sector not given leave to vote, a sharp rise in the voting percent can be cited as a good sign.
The 46.68 vote percent for GHMC elections was recorded from the 149 divisions in the Greater Hyderabad region. Elections in the Old Malakpet division were postponed by the SEC on Tuesday.
The State Election Commission (SEC) has suspended the elections in the Old Malakpet ward in the city after a printing error in the ballot paper surfaced during the elections.
The SEC, which earlier said the elections will be held in the Old Malakpet ward today postponed the date of the election to Thursday. The elections in this ward will increase the total vote percent.
Looking at the wards that reported the highest and least vote percent, Kanchan Bagh ward reported the highest voting percent with 70.39 percent, while Yousufguda recorded the least voting percent with 32.99 percent.
