GHMC Elections To Be Held Through Ballot Boxes

The State Election Commission has taken a key decision on the GHMC elections. The SEC has decided to hold elections through ballot boxes in the wake of coronavirus pandemic.
The SEC said the decision was taken after taking the views of all parties over this. It had asked the opinion of various political parties whether to hold GHMC elections through EVMs or ballot boxes. The commission asked the parties to inform their opinions before September 30.
While there are 11 recognized political parties in the state, 8 parties have expressed their views, the EC said. The BJP has revealed that it only wants elections to be held through EVMs. The ruling TRS has favoured elections to be held through ballot papers. The election notification is likely to be released in the first or second week of November.
