In her letter to the SEC, CS allegedly pointed out the Coronavirus situation in the state and said it is not possible to conduct the local body polls as the police are on Corona duties.
Adding further CS maintained that they will inform the State Election Commissioner when the government will get ready to conduct the local body elections.
As the latest development, SEC Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar met Andhra Pradesh Governor Biswabhusan Harichandan today over the Local Body polls at his residence.
Media reports claimed that Nimmagadda is not happy with CS's latter over the polls and expressed his dissatisfaction over the letter to Governor.
SEC told Governor that the Coronavirus outbreak is not severe compared to the initial days and this is the right time to conduct polls. He quoted the examples of by-polls conducted in other states for this, reports quoted.
The other day, SEC Nimmagadda addressed the media over the Local Body Polls and said the Gram Panchayat elections will be held in February 2020.
Earlier, the local body polls were scheduled to be held in March 2019. Due to the Covid-19 outbreak and a series of lockdowns, the polls kept on postponing.
