SEC Plans To Introduce E-voting In GHMC Elections
By: Tupaki Desk | 3 Nov 2020 5:42 AM GMTThe Telangana State Election Commission (SEC) is considering introducing e-voting in the coming Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) elections, which are supposed to be held anytime after November second week.
The new commissioner C. Parthasarthi on Monday decided to allow e-voting on a pilot basis for employees on election duties, senior citizens and those in quarantine due to COVID-19.
He discussed with state Principal Secretary (IT) Jayesh Ranjan over the technical issues involved and other procedures for casting the vote through online.
Officials said they are developing the right software to pilot the process for those who could not make it to the polling station.
The SEC requested the officials to give a demonstration on the software to be used. The election body is thinking of adopting the method of e-voting in the coming Warangal and Khammam civic body polls based on its implementation in the GHMC polls.
