SECs slow pace makes a mockery of e-governance

How long a communication from the State Election Commission take to reach from Hyderabad to Hyderabad? In this age of e-mails and social media, it shouldn't take more than a few seconds? But, come to think of it, a complaint against the leaders of the government employees takes day to reach the SEC and the SEC acts upon it only after the polling is over. Moreover, the notice from the SEC doesn't reach the union leaders even after a day.

During the course of the Graduate MLC elections, the employees leaders had met KCR and told the media that a 29 per cent fitment was agreed upon. The carefully timed leak was aimed at helping the TRS candidates. Senior Congress leader Niranjan lodged a complaint against this and sought action against both KTR and the employees union leaders. Though the complaint was filed much in advance, a notice was sent only after the election was over. Strangely, even a day after the issuance of the notice, the leaders of the employees unions - secretarial employees union leader Narendra Rao, TNGO leader Rajender and gazetted officers association leader Mamta - claimed that they were yet to receive notices.

Notices were also served on minister Niranjan Reddy, KTR and civil servant Jayesh Ranjan. Sources say that even they are yet to get the notices. This is the pace of communication in a state that claims to lead the country in e-governance.
