Serum Institute Alleges Centre Widened Vaccination Drive Without Taking Account Of Vaccine Availabil

At the time when India is suffering from a shortage of Covid-19 vaccines, the Pune-based Serum Institute of India (SII) that manufactures Covishield vaccine dose became critical of the Centre over the vaccination drive.
Serum Institute of India (SII) Executive Director Suresh Jadhav alleged that the Union Government started the third phase of the vaccination drive without considering the availability of the vaccine stock.
Speaking at an e-summit, Suresh Jadhav said, earlier it was planned to vaccinate more than 300 million people with the vaccine and for the vaccinations, more than 600 million doses were acquired. But before the target was reached, the government opened vaccination for people aged 18 and above, the official said.
Calling it the greatest lesson, the Executive Director said, the availability of the Covid vaccine should be taken into account and the product should be used judiciously. Even after getting jabbed, people are susceptible to the infection, he added.
The Pune-based Pharma company alleged that the Union Government didn't even consider the guidelines issued by the World Health Organization(WHO) over the vaccination drive.
Saying that people are still spectacle about taking the vaccine dose, Suresh Jadhav said, the variants of the virus can create problems in vaccination and urged everyone to follow the Covid preventive guidelines.
