Great News for Central Government Employees
By: Tupaki Desk | 29 Jun 2016 1:48 PM GMTUnion Cabinet today approved the recommendation of 7th Pay Commission to hike salaries and allowances for Central Government Employees and Pensioners by 23.5 percent. This move will directly benefit 50 lakh employees and 58 lakh pensioners in the country.
In November 2015, A Pay Committee recommended 14.27 percent hike. Centre has constituted a special committee in January this year to look into the recommendation of 7th Pay Commission.
The 7th Pay Commission's recommendation of 23.5% will levy an additional burden of Rs 1.02 lakh crore (which is 0.7 percent of GDP) on Union Government. The minimum pay has been raised to Rs 18,000 per month to Rs 7,000, Maximum pay has been upped to Rs 2.5 lakh per month from Rs 90,000. These changes will be implemented from January next year. Does the Central Government Employees need any better reason to celebrate?
