Severe water scarcity in Hyderabad
By: Tupaki Desk | 16 Aug 2013 3:15 PM GMTWater Board officials has decided to cut the supply of water to few areas in Hyderabad as the lack of inflows into Himayatsagar and Osmansagar have almost dried the two reservoirs.
Hyderabad will be short of nearly 45 MGD of water per day if these dry up completely. The people of as many as 50 areas in Nampally, Red Hillsm Mangalhat, Good Shed area and Naubat Pahad will have to suffer because of this condition.
On daily basis, 45 MGD of water will be supplied to these localities. However, the shortage of water has brought the supply down to 17 MGD and by August end it is going to reach zero if the situation doesn't improve.
Officials claim even if 25 MGD is diverted from Krishna water, there will be a shortage of 20 MGD. So, people of these have to get prepared for the worst.
