Sex Crimes Rising In Telangana

Extra-marital relation is one of the biggest reasons for the rise in the number of murders in Telangana state. Land and property disputes and sex-related crimes account for a whopping 58.60 per cent. Love outside marriage, sexcapades and promiscuity are said to be the reasons for most of the crimes.
The crime statistics from 2017 through 2019 show that as many as 521 murders during this period were committed solely due to the disputes arising out of extra-marital relations. A large number of the cases are murder of the spouse by the woman and her paramour. Another 492 murders were due to disputes within the family over relations, property and money. Such murders account for 39.12 per cent of the total murders, according to the crime statistics released by the Telangana police department. Most of those being killed due to sex-related crimes are in the age group of 18-35, according to the police.
The statistics reveal that loosening of family bonds and faithlessness are the two reasons why most crimes are committed. Promotion of strong family values is very important if one is to control such crimes, said a senior police officer.
