Sexist Article row: Outlook regrets, Seeks Protection!
By: Tupaki Desk | 2 July 2015 1:22 PM GMTThe English weekly magazine, Outlook, has finally responded on the allegations of defamatory and objectionable remarks against a Woman IAS Officer.
Outlook claims it regrets if the caricature has hurt anyone. It also adds there were no hidden intentions to defame anyone with the caricature and appealed everyone to look at it as a cartoon. Outlook also sought protection for the Journalist who is behind the Caricature as she has been receiving threat calls ever since IAS Officer Smita Sabharwal complained against the article. Letters were sent by the magazine to Telangana CM KCR, DGP and Press Council in this regard.
Outlook's 'No Boring Babu' Column reads: "She makes a fasÂhÂion staÂtement with her lovely saris and serves as “eye candy” at meetings, admit leading party politicians. The lovely lady, known for her ethnic style, recenÂtly stunned all by appearing in a trendy trouser and frilly top at a fashion show. And for once, she wasnÂ’t sitting in an official meeting. But this appearance, too, made for a great photo op."
Even though the article doesn't mention the name of any IAS Officer, It need no brilliance guess Smita Sabharwal is being targeted as she is the first & only woman bureaucrat in Telangana CMO. Speaking to media, Smita Sabharwal demanded Outlook to apologise to all the women in the country for the sexist article.
