Tharoor's Chillar Tweet On Miss World Backfires

Congress MP Shashi Tharoor's tweet after India's Manushi Chhillar was crowned Miss World 2017 sparked an outrage. 'What a mistake to demonetise our currency! BJP should have realised that Indian cash dominates the globe: look, even our Chhillar has become Miss World!,' he wrote.
The 61-Year-Old was apparently trying to say India's Chillar (loose change) emerged as best in the World while taking a dig at NDA Government which scrapped 86 percent of currency in circulation. Tweet by Tharoor has drawn so much criticism and people advised him not to make fun of a girl who made Indian proud.
An apology was sought from Shashi Tharoor by the National Commission for Women for degrading a daughter of the country - 'Will he call his own daughter chillier? He must apologize immediately'.
Finally, Shashi Tharoor apologized to those who got offended by his light-hearted tweet. 'Certainly no offence was meant to a bright young girl whose answer i've separately praised. Please: Chill!,' he added.
