SHE died after being in Coma for 42 Years

Aruna Shanbaug, former nurse of Kings Edward Memorial (KEM) Hospital in Mumbai, was in coma for 42 years after a sexual assault by a wardboy in the year 1973. She breathed her last in the early hours of Monday.
Since the past 4 decades, KEM Hospital Management & Staff have been taking care of Shanbaug. She was diagnosed with pneumonia last week and was put on ventilator. KEM Hospital Management appealed Aruna Shanbaug's Family to recover her body for the funeral.
In November 1973, Sohanlal Bharta Valmiki who used to work as wardboy brutally assaulted and raped Aruna Shanbaug after throttling her with a dog chain, which let to cut off blood and oxygen supply to key parts of her brain. She never gained her consciousness after this sexual assault.
