Build Mosque at Distance: Shia Board on Ayodhya
By: Tupaki Desk | 9 Aug 2017 9:50 AM GMTUttar Pradesh Shia Waqf Board informed Supreme Court that it willn't object if Mosque is built at a distance from the disputed land, to end the 70-year legal battle over Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid dispute. It even sought establishment of a Judicial-Political Panel headed by Retired SC Judge to resolve the dispute in an amicable manner. The Religious Board even suggested the Panel should comprise UP CM, Two Retires Allahabad HC Judges, Nominee of PM and Representatives of parties involved in litigation.
In the fresh affidavit, Shia Waqf Board informed Mosque can be constructed at a nearby Muslim-dominated area instead of disputed land, birth place of Maryada Purushottam Sri Ram. This is a move to end the dispute over 2.77 acres of land which houses a makeshift temple of Ram Lalla. For the first time, A Religious Board favored shifting of the Mosque.
However, Sunni Waqf Board's stand is going to be crucial as it comprise majority of the Muslims in the country. Shia Waqf Board told SC that Sunni Waqf Board's stand shouldn't be taken into confidence as it's under the control of fanatics and non-believers in peaceful coexistence.
