MP Candidate Stabbed, Attacker Escapes

Shiv Sena MP candidate Omprakash Nimbalkar was stabbed by 21 -year-old Ajinkya Tebe while the former was about to address a rally of his supporters as part of the campaign. The assailant came close to the MP on the pretext of shaking hands with him. He pulled out a knife and attacked Nimbalkar. The Shiv Sena MP suffered minor injuries. He was given first aid and discharged from the hospital. Besides Nimbalkar, Shiv Sena MLA candidate and the MP's bodyguard were also present. They did not suffer any injuries. The reason for the attack is not known. The police overpowered Tebe and took him into custody. But, he managed to give them a slip and melt into the crowd.
Maharashtra is going to polls on October 21. Shiv Sena is contesting in alliance with the BJP. The Shiv Sena is contesting 124 seats, while the BJP is contesting in 164 seats.
