Shiv Sena - Richest Regional Party In India!

The Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) report confirms Shiv Sena emerged as the Richest Party in the country among regional parties by receiving Maximum Funding (Rs 25.65 crore from 297 donations) in the financial year 2016-17. Donations for the Maharashtra-based party declined by 70 percent. It received a funding of Rs 61.19 crore in 2015-16.
Aam Aadmi Party holds the second position by receiving Rs 24.73 crore from 3,865 donations. Punjab-based SAD stood at 3rd spot by receiving Rs 15.45 crore.
Assam-based Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) and Karnataka-based JD (S) are the biggest gainers during the financial year 2016-17. While AGP received Rs 0.43 crore (7,183 percent increase), JD (S) got a funding of Rs 4.2 crore (596 percent) during the same period. Both these parties have formed coalition governments recently.
Regional Parties have received Rs 91.37 crore from 6,339 donations. Three Parties (Shiv Sena, AAP and SAD) managed to get 70.05 percent of that amount. Rs 2.82 crore was received by the parties collectively in the form of cash. ADR Report was based on the records submitted by the parties to the Election Commission.
