Shiv Sena Row: SC Serves Notice To Eknath Shinde!
By: Tupaki Desk | 23 Feb 2023 12:44 AM ISTShiv Sena and Bharatiya Janata Party are identical parties due to their strong Hindutva ideology. Both parties have had friendly ties for a very long time. But things turned upside down after the 2019 elections in Maharashtra. BJP and Shiv Sena parted ways over a fight on sharing the power.
Following the fight, Shiv Sena allied with Congress and NCP and formed the government. Three years after forming the government, Shiv Sena saw a big revolt within the party. As a result, rebel leader Eknath Shinde became the Chief Minister. Uddhav Thackeray lost the Chief Minister post.
Rubbing salt into the wounds, the Election Commission allotted the Shiv Sena party name and symbol to Eknath Shinde's Camp. Former Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray is waging a legal battle to undo the decision. He filed a petition in the Supreme Court against this and the petition was heard today.
The Supreme Court served notices to Chief Minister Eknath Shinde in this regard to give a response to the petition filed by the former Chief Minister of Maharashtra Uddhav Thackeray. Now all eyes are on Eknath Shinde to know what he would say on this.
However, the Supreme Court did not issue a stay order on the decision of the Election Commission to grant the party and its election symbol to Eknath Shinde's camp. This can be seen as a big blow to the Uddhav camp.
On the other hand, Uddhav Thackeray's camp is all set to start a big yatra to gather support from the people and to hold back the Shiv Sena cadre the camp has. The schedule was fixed and the leaders were granted security.
