Despite the war of words with the BJP Party, the Shiv Sena left a window open for reconciliation by withdrawing its candidate Vijay Auti for the speaker's post at the last moment. But In a sudden surprise Sena has decided to sit in opposition and announced its decision to cast vote against Fadnavis. As per media reports Party leadership issued Whip to its MLA's.

On the other side even Congress Party with 42 MLAs was in a dilemma as it could support neither the candidate from BJP nor from the Sena for the Speaker's post and had to field its candidate. With latest move Sena , Congress also withdrawn its applicant for speaker post.Shiv Sena on its part insisted on its decision to sit in opposition and slammed BJP party for taking NCP unconditional support. Commenting on this situation, BJP immediately hit back with minister Sudhir Mungantiwar saying , "Shiv Sena's decision is purely to benefit their party. It's not in the interests of Maharashtra." Though Fadnavis will show his prove his number in today's trust vote with the help of NCP , its a big question how can ShivSena can face the long ally party by sitting in opposition.
