Shock to senior Congressmen: None from Telangana in AICC steering committee
X
Even as the Telangana Congress is deeply immersed in the Bharat Jodo Yatra of Rahul Gandhi, which is currently passing through Telangana, here comes the shocker from Delhi. Except one Telugu, no other senior leader from both the Telugu states could find a place in the AICC steering committee, which is the highest decision-making body of the party.

This only shows that the two Telugu states have no role whatsoever in the decision-making of the party. Of the 47 names announced by the newly elected AICC chief, Mallikarjun Kharge, only T Subbarami Reddy is a Telugu. He is in the all-important body by virtue of his being a permanent invitee of the AICC. But, even Subbarami Reddy is not very active in politics these days.

In the last steering committee, there were four members from Telangana. They are K Keshava Rao, S Jaipal Reddy, AITUC chief Sanjeeva Reddy and G Venkat Swami. Of these, KK is now in the TRS, while Jaipal Reddy and Venkat Swami are no more. Sanjeeva Reddy is in his 90s. In the current steering committee there is no one from Telangana. This has come as a shocker for the Congress leaders of Telangana.

Leaders like Geetha Reddy, Damodar Rajanarsimha, Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka and V Hanumanth Rao have been ignored in the steering committee. This only shows the lack of importance of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana in the Congress scheme of things. The party has been out of power in both the Telugu states for nearly 10 years and it polled less than 1 per cent votes in AP, though it is slightly better off in Telangana.
