Shocking! Your Pending Salaries May Not Be Paid At All
X
Here's some real bad news for all the employees who were left without work due to the lockdown. During this period, many employees in non-essential services were asked to stay at home and not report to work. Now it emerges that these employees may not get wages for the period.

The latest notification by the Government says that payment of pending wages is not mandatory. This means, the companies that paid only a fraction of the wages to the employees for March, April and would pay for May may not have to pay the withheld salary amounts.

Thus, if an employee earning Rs 15000 per month was paid just Rs 10000 in March and April, may not get the Rs 1000 pending arrears. The latest order by the National Disaster Management Authority cancels its own order dated March 29, which said that the employers should pay the salaries to the employees for the period. Now, this is mandatory not obligatory. Thus, the part of the pay withheld will not be paid now.

This no doubt is a relief for the employers, companies and the factories, it Is a bolt from the blue for the employees, who were expecting that their pending salaries would be credited to them sooner than later. No, companies would like to avail this benefit and refuse to pay the pending amounts.
