Showing Vaccine Certificate Made Mandatory To Purchase Alcohol!
By: Tupaki Desk | 3 Sep 2021 9:54 AM GMTThe Nilgiri district in Tamil Nadu is one of the major tourist spots in the state that attracts a good share of the footfall of tourists to enjoy the scenery there. The tourist percentage has been growing over the last few days. Amid the Covid fear, the tourist visits to the district had raised a lot of fears.
Amid this, the district collector of Nilgiri had issued new guidelines for those who want to purchase alcohol. To purchase alcohol, people should submit their vaccination certificates. Along with the certification, they should also show their Aadhar Card.
The new move is also aimed at increasing the vaccine numbers in the district. As the people in the district still have the hesitancy in taking the vaccine doses to beat the Coronavirus. The efforts made by the concerned authorities to encourage people to take the vaccine doses did not yield any positive outcome.
As the efforts made by the authorities earlier did not make any big change in the mindset of the people as far as the hesitancy towards the Coronavirus vaccine is concerned, the district collector had come up with the new decision.
The orders issued by the collector say those who have taken the Coronavirus vaccines will be permitted to purchase the alcohol at the liquor stalls in the district. Unless the vaccine certification and the Aadhar Card are shown at the counter, the liquor will not be sold.
Speaking to the media, Nilgiris Collector Innocent Divya said, a majority of the population in the district have taken the Covid vaccine doses and a few people are not ready to take the doses as they take alcohol regularly. To see that more people show up at the vaccination center, the decision was taken, the Collector said.
The authorities are hoping that the new orders issued by the collector will see the vaccine numbers grow in the district. All the liquor stalls across the district have been directed to make sure that they follow the new rules. The liquor shop owners were asked not to sell alcohol for people who won't show their vaccination certificates.
