Following a debate on the topic 'whether or nor Mahishasur Jayanti can be treated as treason', TV Anchor Sindhu Sooryakumar received over 2,000 threat calls.

Sindhu Sooryakumar is the chief co-ordinating editor of Asianet News TV. The threat calls were believed to be from pro-Hindutva Groups who alleged she has called Goddess Durga as 'Sex Worker' during the debate and abused her. 'I have been receiving a call every minute after the show. Most of them call me a Prostitute and I was abused,' she told.

The Journalist lodged a police complaint. Until now, Five People were taken into custody in connection with the case. All of them belong to pro-Hindutva Groups such as RSS, BJP and Sri Ram Sena.

Leaders of BJP and RSS haven't condemned the actions of their activists so far. Instead, They began giving statement stressing freedom of press.
